1. Santa Maria Maddalena’s dome:

Desenzano’s cathedral is a majestic, magnificent, and imposing monument, but presents very linear and clean external. To enjoy this amazing work of art, is necessary enter and observe the frescos and paintings adorning the interior. The edifice has been built by Giulio Todeschini in 1600. Is an enchanting example of Baroque and Renaissance style: the church is composed of three naves, one of the late-renaissance features with wealth of detail, precious decorations and an exorbitant use of gold and bronze. In the chapel is conserved one of the most important and prestigious work by Giambattista Tiepolo: “Ultima cena”, completed in 1738.

2. San Martino ossary chapel:

Located in San Martino della Battaglia, a district in Desenzano del Garda, is a cultural and religious place which brings the visitor praying and meditating. The small chapel, dedicated to the Conti Treccani, hosts the ossary of the fallen during the battle of San Martino, on 24th June 1870.

3. Castle:

Built and fortified in 1400, for the purpose of defending the territory from the barbarian, the castle is an imponent and massive fortress, which dominates Desenzano with his four towers and the remains of a huge drawbridge. Thanks to a recent restructure, is available visiting the whole building, retracing the routine of the medieval guard soldiers. From this spot is possible enjoying a unique and charming landscape of the Lake.

4. Aviator’s monument:

Installed in Matteotti Square is a monument dedicated to the High-Speed department of Desenzano, the national most performing aviation team between ‘20s and the ‘30s.

The most significant event takes place every year right in front of the building and is a memorial ceremony remembering the victory of primate speed on seaplane of Marshal Agello. The statue represents the face of a woman leaning forward, with the eyes closed and the hair back as if she had just been thrown into the air. From the monument may perceive power, strength, and freedom, but at the same time of beauty and gentleness, embellished with female features, decorated with plenty particulars.

5. Villa Romana ed Antiquarium:

Consists in a major archaeological site, which preserves the remains of a royal mansion dating between them 1st and the 5th century A.D. Inside the archaeological zone is possible visiting the “Museum antiquarium”, where are preserved objects and manufactures that probably belonged to the owners of the mansion. The most amusing characteristic of “Villa Romana” is the mosaic pavement, a meticulous, precise and artistic work which gives the visitor a stunning impression.
